On the farm

This week Jackson and I went on a trip to The Urban Farm. Located right in Denver, the non-profit farm works on "improving the lives of children living in high-risk, urbanized neighborhoods by helping to create a sense of positive self-regard and self-reliance, a strong work ethic, and hope." How wonderful!

I have heard about this farm for a while, and was excited when my mom's group scheduled a tour there. It was a gorgeous spring day and we were both very excited. As we waited for the tour to start, Jackson got to meet and pet his first animal...what a cute bunny!

We then walked along and fed sheep and goats...

And we checked out ducks, chickens and turkeys. Jackson liked petting a duck and a chicken.

Jackson really liked the big turkey who was posturing for the crowd and showing off his feathers.
We also saw donkeys, cows and two giant pigs. The farm offered pony rides at the end, but I didn't want to press my luck with Jackson, who was exhausted. We'll have to come back... I heard they sell farm fresh eggs on the weekends.

My boys

What a nice way to spend a Sunday.

Baseball Game

A few weeks ago we took Jackson to his first baseball game, and I just realized I completely forgot to post pictures.

It was a perfect spring day, not too hot, not too cold. Jackson had taken his nap earlier than usual, and when he woke up we realized it was perfect timing to catch the Rockies v. Nationals game.

We got there in the 4th inning and grabbed tickets at the window. Our seats were way up top, which freaked me out a little, but then we sat that right in front of a barrier (so much better for a toddler than in a middle seat with nothing to contain him).

Jackson came prepared with his foam finger.

Aunt Katie also made it to the game with us!

He was loving the french fries!

Arriving halfway through the game was perfect for a one year old. Jackson was getting tired at the end, and shared a snuggle with Dad.

Overall, it was a wonderful day, and I foresee many more baseball games with the little man in our future!

Not Feeling Well

Jackson is sick. And even though over the past few days he's been driving me crazy, I feel really bad for him. He has a fever, cold, cough and really bad congestion making it hard for him to breath at times.
He spent one morning just walking around wining. Poor guy.
The one thing really makes him happy, even when he is sick?

Paddington

Jackson loves his Paddington. He will pick him up and give him hugs and kisses. This is the first stuffed animal he has been attached to and it is so cute! Mostly because Paddington is practically the same size as Jackson.

Oh, and he also likes cell phones and remotes, but what toddler doesn't?

Feel better soon, buddy.

Happy Mother's Day

Today has been an absolutely perfect day. I am definitely a lucky woman. My morning started out with a little Real Housewives (guilty pleasure) and a chat with my mom. I wish I could have spent this day with her... someday! Then I was greeted with this....
Challah french toast, fresh fruit and a latte. Perfection. For my breakfast in bed, I was joined by my favorite two guys:

Yes, Josh lugged Jackson's high chair all the way upstairs. I was actually impressed with how he contained his breakfast. I was worried about maple syrup smashed into the carpet, but there was no problem.

Later I had some free time to do a little shopping, which I thoroughly enjoyed and we met up with family at The Palm for brunch. Jackson was quite entertaining and even learned a new trick!

Fist bump! Nice job, Mimi!

I hope all of you mothers had a wonderful day!

What is he doing?

Jackson entertained himself yesterday for a good 20-25 minutes doing this...

This is why we are definitely signing up for the Parent-Tot Tumbling Class this summer.

Exploring the Backyard

Yesterday Jackson and I enjoyed the nice spring weather with an art project outside. This was Jackson's first introduction to crayons and he was in heaven!!

He didn't really get the coloring part yet, but that will come. He spent most of the time grinning from ear to ear and swinging his legs. Then when he was tired of that, he stuffed crayons down the umbrella hole.

Nope, that one doesn't fit!

We then went on a tour of the backyard.

Checking out the tulips (look at those curls!)

And Dad's new garden boxes

What a boy...he really wanted to get in the dirt and picked up every stick he could find
What a fun afternoon!

Kentucky Derby

We partially hosted a neighborhood Kentucky Derby party on Saturday. It was a progressive party where we traveled throughout the day to 3 houses. I was really excited about this party since I absolutely love the Derby. I baked a ham and biscuits and everyone brought a dish. I meant to take pictures throughout the day, but only took a few in the beginning...

The buffet waiting for the food
I found these horse cutouts at Michael's and thought they would be perfect for the raffle
I have found the perfect recipe for mint juleps, and these were the main reason I never took more pictures of the party. Yum! I used this recipe and made it even better by purchasing the crushed ice from Sonic and leaving some club soda on the bar for anyone who thought their drink was too strong. The bottle was empty in no time!
Can't wait for next year!
